Nha Trang is Vietnam’s most famous seaside resort-town. Livelier and more urban in character than beach destinations like Mui Ne and Phu Quoc, it is also the scuba diving centre of Vietnam.

Traces of human settlement in Nha Trang date back to the Cham Empire, although in times of Vietnamese rule there wasn’t much more here than a handful of small fishing villages. It was the French who recognised that this beautiful bay, with its islands and white sand beaches, would make a perfect bathing spot, and so began its transformation into a resort town. American soldiers agreed with them, and Nha Trang became a favourite vacation stop during the war.

Climate

The monsoon season is from October to mid-December. Sea winds can be heavy, and sometimes the weather can get cold.
