From new lounges and routes to redesigned cabin interiors, British Airways is to invest £7 billion in 600+ new initiatives that it claims will transform both the airline and the customer experience.
The plans include the opening of a brand-new lounge in Dubai, which will replace the existing lounge facility at the airport, offering more space and more features for customers. The new concept will then be launched in Miami in 2025 followed by Lagos and Seattle.
Another investment is in short haul, with new seating, modern yet classic interiors and extra-large bins for overhead luggage featuring on eight aircraft from May. Club Europe seats will see the return of the leather tray that sits between the aisle and window seat, while all short-haul seats will also be fitted with USB-A and USB-C charging ports.
Flights from London to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur will re-start in October and November respectively, while the carrier is also returning to Abu Dhabi on 20 April, as well as welcoming Agadir in Morocco on 31 March and adding Izmir in Turkey to its network on 18 May.
Other key plans include the launch of a new website and mobile app, free onboard messaging, and a new First suite, while AI and machine learning will help flights depart on time.
