St Lucia is the embodiment of every global traveller’s Caribbean dream. It is a small, lush tropical gem of an island that is still relatively unknown and undeveloped.
Even so, your specialist UK Travel Managers for St Lucia will be able to locate for you an attractive range of options at discrete resorts, where it will be possible to enjoy the very best of the island.
St Lucia is one of the Windward Isles in the Lesser Antilles. It nestles between Martinique and St Vincent, in crystal-clear waters midway down the Caribbean chain, north-east of Barbados.
The avocado-shaped island is just 27 miles (43km) long and 14 miles (23km) wide, making travel around it as easy and laid-back as the culture of St Lucia.
The volcanic island’s main landmarks are the Pitons, the two soaring peaks that dominate its southern coast. Rising majestically from the sea, they shelter the magnificent dense rainforest where wild orchids grow and brilliantly plumed tropical birds can be sighted.
The Creole people of the island are as warm as the tropical climate. The island has been left with a distinct French flavour from its colonial days, although its earliest European settlers in the 17th century were British.
The island’s natural beauty is still largely untouched by development, so you will not struggle to find secluded golden beaches where coral reefs beckon snorkelers, scuba divers and sun lovers.
St Lucia does admittedly attract a number of day-trippers, though these tend to disembark from their cruise ships at Castries, and generally stray little further than the shops, bars and restaurants the island’s main port.
Given all the benefits of being based on the island, you will have all the time in the world in which to explore and discover the enchanting beauty of the real St Lucia. There are walks and cycling trails that will lead you to countless breathtaking natural beauty spots, including the wonderful Soufriere volcano, with its bubbling sulphur springs.
