The Maldives government has announced plans to reopen its borders as well as restart tourism activities from July.
It has also confirmed that it will not charge visitors additional fees. 
The Indian Ocean destination, which closed its borders in March, is expected to issue permits for resorts to open once international flights to Velana International Airport resume in July.
In addition, the country has plans to introduce new procedures and guidelines to enter the Maldives. These are expected to include a mandatory PCR, or antigen, test for coronavirus and a minimum 14 day stay.
