London City Airport get the greenlight for new expansion

A £334 million plan to expand London City Airport has been approved by the Government.

The development will see seven new aircraft stands, a parallel taxiway and a terminal expansion, increasing the number of take-offs and landings at the airport from 70,000 to 111,000 a year.

London City Airport said the development will “transform” the airport adding a further 32,000 flights by 2025. The expansion is also estimated to double the number of passengers to six million a year by 2023.

The new expansion will create 1,600 new jobs at the airport and another 500 during the construction phase.
