Madeira and Porto Santo will be fully open to international travellers from 1st July.
Positioning the islands as Covid-safe destinations, the Madeira government has pledged to pay for Covid-19 tests on arrival.
All arrivals will have to either present a negative coronavirus test carried out within 72 hours prior to departure or be tested free of charge upon arrival. Madeira is working with certification firm SGS to ensure good practice.
These initiatives underpin a determination to ensure a safe tourism location for all visitors, according to tourism chiefs.
Porto Santo claims to have had the first beach in Europe to officially reopen after Covid-19.
Madeira has registered 90 positive cases of the virus and no deaths.
