Stansted Airport Announce New £130m Arrivals Building
London Stansted Airport has been given the green light for a new £130 million arrivals building.
Designed by architects Pascall+Watson, the 34,000 sq m building will span across three floors and will be built next to the current terminal.
The plans include a larger immigration and baggage reclaim area, new retail facilities and a public forecourt to generate a relaxing and welcoming environment for passengers.
The departures building will be rearranged to provide more space at check-in, security and within the international departures lounge.
Work is expected to take up to three years to complete, and will begin in late 2018.
“The granting of planning permission for our new £130 million arrivals building is excellent news for everyone connected to Stansted Airport and will transform our infrastructure and facilities to give our passengers the best possible experience,” the airport’s chief executive, Andrew Cowan said.
“Stansted is a national asset and our investment will continue to boost competition and support economic growth, jobs and international connectivity for London and the east of England.”
