Detroit’s newest hotel opening
Starwood is set to debut the first property under its eco-friendly, extended stay Element brand in Detroit.
The property will be located within the Metropolitan Building in the city’s central business district and will feature 110 rooms with kitchens and “spa-inspired bathrooms”, an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre, 2,000 square feet of meeting space, and an outdoor patio on the 11th floor rooftop.
Guests will also enjoy free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast and evening wine receptions.
The Metropolitan Building was initially opened as a jewellery emporium in 1925, and the new development will see the property’s Gothic exterior restored, with parts of the building’s ornate lobby and mezzanine floor preserved.
There are now 22 Element hotels open around the world – 19 in North America, two in Europe and one in Asia-Pacific.
