United to Suspend Routes to Gatwick This Winter
United Airlines is suspending routes to Gatwick airport this winter due to a lack of demand.
This is the first time the airline has suspended their Glasgow-New York flight since it was introduced 19 years ago.
Commenting on the suspension, a spokeswoman for United Airlines said:
"United will suspend its Glasgow-New York/Newark service during the upcoming 2017-18 winter season, 29 October 2017 to 4 May 2018 inclusive (westbound), in response to a seasonal reduction in market demand."
United isn’t the only airline to cancel routes to Gatwick. Air France will also be halting flights to the city due to poor passenger load factors.
According to Business Traveller, Air France said, “from October 28 Air France will be adapting its flight offering from Paris CDG by suspending its route to Glasgow.”
