Searching for some inspiration for your next trip? Time Out’s recently published list of 40 Coolest Neighbourhoods in the World might be of some help.

For the sixth year running, the publication canvassed thousands of city dwellers and its global network of local editors and writers to come up with the best of the best.

In first place is Laureles in Medellín, Colombia which despite its great nightlife still has a laid-back feel thanks to “its parks, tree-lined streets, yoga studios and countless coffee shops.” Runner-up is Smithfield in Dublin – “the home of traditional Irish music” –  where “historic pubs sit alongside independent bars, vegan-friendly restaurants and artisanal cafés.”

Coming in at number three is Carabanchel in Madrid “where the swanky new modern artist collectives meet traditional tapas restaurants,” while in fourth place was Havnen in Copenhagen, and in fifth, Sheung Wan in Hong Kong.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Brunswick East, Melbourne; Mid-City, New Orleans; Isola, Milan; Amsterdam West and Tomigaya, Tokyo.
