MSC Cruises Announce €1.8 Billion Agreement for Two More Ships
MSC Cruises has announced that they have taken delivery of the new MSC Seaside at the Fincantieri shipyard.
This is the line’s second ship to launch in 2017 and marks the first within MSC’s Seaside Class. With a capacity of 5,179 passengers, the MSC Seaside will Homeport in Miami, and call at various ports in the east and west Caribbean.
During the ceremony in Italy, MSC Cruises and Fincantieri signed orders for the creation of two Seaside EVO ships worth €1.8 billion.
Commenting on the news, Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, said: “We are proud to have accomplished such an important project: a ship, for a new customer, the largest one ever built in Italy. This demonstrates not only our ability to satisfy the needs of the shipowners, but also the extraordinary operational level which Fincantieri has achieved.
“We believe we have built a highly innovative ship with MSC. She marks a further technological quality leap. Such a milestone has allowed us to gain the customer’s loyalty with another order for two new ships, which will [again] represent a real evolution.”
There was also an announcement that there will be 12 new MSC ships constructed by 2026 for a total investment of €10.8 billion.
